Cheers to another Friday, LinkedIn community. We're looking for some talented young professionals — 40, to be exact.

That's right: The nomination deadline is approaching for our annual 40 Under 40 awards.

The program recognizes outstanding young professionals under the age of 40. Nominees must work in Sacramento, Yolo, Placer or El Dorado counties. Yes, you can nominate yourself.

Many previous honorees say 40 Under 40 recognition has been a pivotal point in their career. It can lead to new professional contacts and business opportunities.

Plus, we hold a pretty awesome party for the honorees.

From a 9,804-square-foot home to a helipad and nine-hole putting green, there's a lot to unpack in a new listing for sale in El Dorado Hills.

Known as the Roebbelen Estate, the 591-acre property with development potential is being listed unpriced by Ken Noack jr of Newmark and Hilary Devine of Lyon & Associates.

"Wow," Noack said. "It's probably one of the most unique assets I've ever had the privilege to work on."

Owned and developed by the Roebbelen family behind El Dorado Hills-based Roebbelen Contracting, Inc. , the property could be sold to one or a number of buyers for all the components it includes. Read more

A Tahoe hotel is getting a new brand — and it may be one associated with singer-songwriter-hospitality mogulJimmy Buffett.

The South Lake Tahoe Planning Division recently approved a permit for a project called Margaritaville Tahoe. The address of the project is at what is nowthe Lake Tahoe Resort Hotel— a 400-room hotel property at the heart of the south Tahoe tourist core, between Heavenly Village and Harrah’s Lake Tahoe.

The Lake Tahoe Resort Hotel has been unbranded since it dropped its franchise agreement with Embassy Suites in 2013.

Solidigmannounces layoffs at Rancho Cordova headquarters

Reporter Mark Anderson covered some big news on the local tech scene this week.

Solid-state flash memory company Solidigm announced a permanent layoff of 98 employees at its new headquarters in the City of Rancho Cordova .

The company this year moved its headquarters from San Jose to Rancho Cordova, where it's building out a research and development campus and offices. Read more

Kevin Johnson's restaurant chain plans national expansion

Sacramento-based Fixins Soul Kitchen, owned by former MayorKevin Johnsonand wife Michelle Rhee , has its sights set on national expansion.

The full-service soul food restaurant chain opened its first location in Oak Park in 2019 and has since expanded to include sites in Los Angeles and Tulsa, Oklahoma, which opened in May. The chain says it's on pace to open 30 stores in 30 cities in 10 years.

"I think Kevin has had the notion all along that he wanted to have 40 to 50 locations across the country," saidErik Rhee,Michelle Rhee's brother and national director of real estate and development for Fixins. "We are looking at opening one new restaurant per quarter moving forward to not overload ourselves and to spread it out a bit." Read more
