Trane partnered with the U.S. Forest Service (USFS), an agency of the U.S. Department of Agriculture, stewards 193 million acres across the countrys 154 National Forests and 20 National Grasslands. However, forests and grasslands are greatly imperiled by wildfires. According to the State of California, wildfires destroyed over 4.2 million acres of land in the state, and damaged or destroyed nearly 10,500 structures in 2020.

California State Lottery Headquarters
A major feature of the new building design for the California State Lottery Headquarters included the construction of a Zero Net Energy (ZNE) pavilion. For the pavilion to achieve ZNE classification, it had to be designed to operate using no more energy than is provided by its own on-site generation. Of course, this would need to be accomplished without compromising occupant comfort.
